Announcement from Dean Venky About Stepping Down - 2/15/08
It’s an extraordinary time to pursue engineering and applied sciences at Harvard.
In February of 2007, the Harvard Corporation and the Board of Overseers ratified our name change from "Division" to "School" of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
As Harvard is a place of tradition, I want to emphasize that this transformation is not a departure from history.
In some sense, the wheel is coming full circle. The Lawrence School, our progenitor, will be reborn in a new form appropriate for the 21st century—rooted in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, nimble and interdisciplinary, connected to the professional schools, and directed toward discovery, innovation, and impact on society.
I invite you to learn more about our programs and to become a part of our vibrant and growing community.
Venkatesh "Venky" Narayanamurti
Dean, Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
