Lecturer, Applied Physics & Materials Science
The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at Harvard University expects to appoint a part-time Lecturer in Applied Physics and Materials Science starting in the Fall of 2009. This position will be an annual appointment, renewable for up to three years.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have a commitment to and demonstrable excellence in teaching graduate courses in the area of soft materials, including polymer science, biomaterials, or colloid and interface science. We are seeking applicants who can teach fundamental concepts and experimental methods to an interdisciplinary audience and relate these concepts to current research. We particularly encourage applications from women and under-represented minority groups.

Part-time Professor of the Practice (Distributed Systems)
The Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) is inviting applications and nominations for candidates with academic and industrial experience in the area of Distributed Systems for a part-time Professor of the Practice position.
Professor of the Practice is a five-year renewable position. Such appointments are reserved for scholars who have demonstrated excellence in teaching. It provides the opportunity for an individual from industry to teach while maintaining their primary association outside of Harvard. Professors of the Practice have full voting rights in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and voting rights as senior faculty in the SEAS, except on decisions relating to appointments to the tenured rank.

Faculty positions in Biologically Inspired Engineering
The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences & Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University jointly seek applicants for several openings at the level of tenure-track assistant, associate or full professor in the field of Engineered Biomaterials. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the use of genetic engineering, nanotechnology, synthetic biology, directed evolution or other approaches to build chimeric biomolecules, programmable self assembling materials or biopolymers with defined macromolecular architectures and chemical functionalities. The successful candidate will become a member of a new interdisciplinary research institute composed of experimentalists, theoreticians and clinicians from Harvard University, its affiliated hospitals, and other academic institutions in the Boston/Cambridge area who focus on research and advanced technology development in the field of Biologically Inspired Engineering. Candidates must have the ability to develop a leading research program with a focus on technology development and translation, as well as enthusiasm for teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Tenure-track Position in Energy Science and Technology
The Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (HSEAS) is initiating a major thrust in the broad area of energy science and technology and invites applications for tenure-track positions in this area. Interested candidates with expertise in applied physics, materials science, applied chemistry, chemical engineering, and environmental engineering with a particular focus on energy-related applications are invited to apply. Assistant Professor Positions in Mechanics
